Candid Camera

It is a picture-perfect moment for the shutterbugs of the Chandigarh Fotography Club.

On its first anniversary, the Chandigarh Fotography Club is ready with its maiden exhibition

It is a picture-perfect moment for the shutterbugs of the Chandigarh Fotography Club (CFC). They are celebrating their first anniversary with their maiden photography exhibition titled Stolen Moments,a collection of 56 pictures at the Museum Art Gallery. Founded in December 2008,the 31 members came together as a group when their first photo walk was held, which has become a ritual every Sunday.

A group of proletarian photographers is how they describe themselves, coming from every walk of life, sharing a strong passion for photography. They share their knowledge and interest and the Sunday photo walks allow them to share their experiences too. The group comprises mostly working people, and it’s the love for pictures that keeps them together. “Apart from Sundays,we meet once a month to share feedbacks, tips and tricks to achieve higher degrees of technical and artistic ability,” says Anurag Bhateja, adding that they first shared their pictures on Flicker.com before getting together to form CFC. “Now we are one big family and photography is not only an artistic expression, but a way to see and share the world around us,” adds Aman Kaur, who feels that their level of enthusiasm is high when they work together. For most, heading out with the camera is a great stress-buster,a time to reflect, think and be with oneself. “It’s our great getaway,” says Sandeep. The exhibition, being organised without any support from sponsors,is meant to encourage members.

Abstracts to architecture, nature to landscapes, people to wildlife—the varied repertory of work is worth a look.

The exhibition is on at the Museum Art Gallery till May 23.
