Though busy with Assembly polls Punjab,Uttrakhand and UP,the BJP has not lost sight of Himachal Pradesh — of its strongholds, which will go to polls by the year-end. For this purpose, the party wants to be ready with its preliminary in house surveys on the party’s prospects.

According to sources, national president Nitin Gadkari has got a study conducted to gauge the people’s satisfaction level when it comes to the performance of the government. Gadkari has also constituted a team of party observers from Haryana to conduct a district-wise survey of BJP’s popularity graph and assess the performances of sitting MLAs. In this connection, six Haryana BJP leaders will travel extensively in Himachal in the next few days.

Veteran Haryana BJP leader Ganeshi Lal has already held meeting with party leaders at Hamirpur — the chief minister’s home district — to chalk out how to go about it. “The party wants to ensure is that Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is in a position to break the Himachal’s myth of political change after every five years. This will need some drastic change in denying tickets to MLAs whose victory prospects are below 60 per cent,” said a leader.
