Bhanot named Panchkula District Planning Committee member

Panchkula: The Haryana government has appointed Jagmohan Bhanot as the member of District Planning Committee,Panchkula. Bhanot expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the appointment. He also thanked MLA Panchkula Mr. Devender Kumar Bansal. Bhanot urged the people of the district to make the estimates of the development works to be carried out in their villages and submit it to the concerned office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer or in the office of District Planning Officer at the earliest so that the same could be approved in the meeting of District Planning Committee scheduled be held on May 9.

Police arrest help for jewellery theft

Chandigarh : The Chandigarh Police today arrested a maid on charges of theft at her employer’s house. Gurpreet Singh,a resident of Sector 35,got registered a complaint in the morning that jewellery worth of Rs 4 lakh had been stolen from their house. According to his complaint,their family had gone to pay obeisance at Nada Sahib gurdwara on Sunday. After reaching back home they discovered the theft. They also mentioned that they suspected that their maidservant did it because she did not join work today. The police today apprehended Banna (35) and on interrogation,she confessed the crime. The police have recovered the jewellery. A case has been registered at the Sector 36-based police station.

BJP protests against house tax imposition

Panchkula: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today carried out a protest march under Krishan Pal Gujjar,state party president,from its district headquarters in Sector 2 to the Deputy Commissioner’s office here today . About 200 people participated in the protest march. In a memorandum,addressed to Governor,the party highlighted the issues of house tax,corruption and price rise. Gujjar said,“The Congress came to power on the promise of tax free policies. The house tax was not even mentioned in the state budget. But after a month of budget,house tax has been imposed which will render house owners as tenants in their own houses.” Former Ambala MP Ratan Lal Kataria,Gian Chand Gupta,treasurer,was also present on the occasion. The memorandum was handed over to ADC Sanjeev Verma. Haryana Janhit Congress also held a press conference in Panchkula on Monday and condemned the Hooda government’s move to impose the house tax.

BSP demands solution to Lal Dora problem

Chandigarh: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) at a meeting held today demanded that the issue of Lal Dora in the villages should be addressed at the earliest. The members said that the problems of residents of Khuda Ali Sher need to be addressed. The residents have been sitting on a dharna for the past few days to demand that the houses constructed outside Lal Dora be regularised and the notices for demolition taken back. Representatives of most of the parties have visited the residents and expressed solidarity. BSP leaders said both BJP and Congress had been in power,but the problems of the villages of Chandigarh had not been resolved.

Dental radiology meet held at PGI

Chandigarh: A day-long CME on ‘Radiology and Imaging in Dental Practice: An Update’ was conducted at PGIMER,jointly organised by the Department of Oral Health Sciences and Dept of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging. The chairpersons Prof Ashok Utreja,head,Oral Health Sciences,and Prof Khandelwal,Head of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging,highlighted the importance of diagnostic aids of radiology in making clinical diagnosis.

World Asthma Day today

Chandigarh: The PGI Department of Paediatrics will mark World Asthma Day on Tuesday,with activities around this year’s theme ‘You can control your asthma’. Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) will also launch the next phase in its campaign to reduce asthma hospitalisations by 50 per cent in five years. According to a study,over 80 of asthma deaths come about in low and lower-middle income countries.
