The St Johns Old Boys Association (SJOBA) Winter Ball,held as part of the SJOBA Winter Fest 2011,proved once again why its the most awaited annual bash of the city. Held at Rock Garden Phase 3 on Saturday night,the ball was a huge success as the citys glitterati chose to dance the chill away. With PK Srivastava,IG,Chandigarh Police,as the chief guest,the alumni of St. Johns High School,along with their companions,made sure everyone had a rocking time. Guests were greeted by hostesses at the entrance,inviting them to take a ride on one of rickshaws waiting there. Decorated with balloons,the rickshaws ferried the guests to the main venue,which was a three-minute ride away. The back-slapping camaraderie among the school boys was hard to miss. While students from the batches of 1964-2010 were present at this years event,a special ceremony was held to commemorate the batch of 1986 that completed 25 years of passing out. A live band,with Poorvi as the lead singer,got the crowd swinging to foot-tapping rock n roll and popular music numbers. Meanwhile,inside the disco enclosure,DJ Bhanu raised the excitement levels to a new high with pulsating music,complete with UV lighting,lasers and pyro-techniques. Roving camera units captured the razzmatazz as well as the emotional moments and screened them live on the huge projection screens. Apart from the fun we all had,the Winter Ball shows the tremendous organising capabilities of SJOBA,the team spirit of its members and the close bonding all of us have with our school as well as each other, remarked Shivneet Singh,president of SJOBA.
