The Chandigarh Police on Sunday arrested two youths for allegedly cheating in the State Selection Commission (SSC) exam through the use of mobile phones. The accused,identified as Naresh Kumar and Vikram Singh,hid the phones in their shoes to escape being caught.

Police said,the accused visited Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 27 to give their exams. During a routine check at 3.30 pm on Sunday,Naresh Kumar,22,was caught by the invigilator using his phone in the examination hall. Vikram Singh,23,was also found doing the same. A call was made to the police and both were arrested. Police said,answers to the questions asked in the exam were sent via texts to the accused on their mobile phones used by them during the exam.

A case of cheating and of criminal conspiracy under relevant Sections of the IPC has been registered with the Sector 26 police. Police have sought two-day custody of the accused from a local court to identify their accomplices. ENS
