2 caught with 3,200 spasmocip capsules

Two persons were arrested by the Operations Cell of the UT Police,and 3,200 capsules of spasmocip have been seized from their possession. Spasmocip is a medicine used for intestinal disorders.

Kaushal Mishra and Sunny,both residents of Sector 56,were arrested Thursday night at about 9 pm. Kaushal,19,was arrested with 1,440 drug capsules and 1,760 capsules were recovered from Sunny,20.

According to the police officials,the sale and purchase of this drug,without a valid prescription,is prohibited. The capsule has a component which has been categorized as a narcotic by the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau), said a police official.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the capsules were acquired contraband from Ambala,Narayangarh and Balongi. These were sold in Chandigarh and its outskirts. The accused were produced in a local court. Sunny was remanded to judicial custody and Kaushal was remanded to police remand for a day.
