A man, who was driving an Audi Q8 e-tron, sustained injuries after the car rammed into multiple vehicles on a service road in South Delhi’s Okhla Industrial Area on Monday afternoon, police said.

Two PCR calls regarding the incident were received around 12.41 pm, they said.

During preliminary investigation, police found that the Audi first struck three parked cars, and due to impact of the collision, it continued to move and eventually crashed into the rear portion of a stationary truck before coming to a halt.

“The car belongs to Vikas Narang, a resident of DLF Farms in Chattarpur, who has an office at Okhla Industrial Area. The car was being driven by Babu Lal, a resident of Bihar’s Madhubani,” said DCP South East, Hemant Tiwari.

“He picked up Narang from Chattarpur and dropped him off at his office. On his way back, he said he lost control of the car. He said that he tried pressing the brakes, which didn’t work. To save pedestrians and cars on the main road, he crashed the car into cars parked on the side of the road,” said DCP Tiwari. A case has been registered against Lal.

According to the police, Lal was released from the hospital after treatment. His blood sample has been collected for a test to ascertain if he was under the influence of alcohol. Police are also trying to find out if there was a mechanical failure in the car.
