An assistant sub-inspector of the Limkheda police was booked on Sunday for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 6,000 from a villager to settle a case. While he is on the run,a shopkeeper,who reportedly accepted the money on his behalf,was detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Dahod.
ASI Ravji Parghee,who was posted at Vadondi outpost in Limkheda town,had demanded Rs 8,000 from Dinesh Baria,a resident of Agara village in Limkheda taluka to dispose of an application filed against the latter by one Kasna Rathva,ACB officials said.
Kasna Rathva,a resident of Khirkhai village of Limkheda,had filed the application against Dinesh alleging the latter had not married his sister according to customs of the community and hence the marriage was not valid. Kasna demanded Rs 3 lakh from Dinesh to settle the matter. The ASI offered to mediate and brought down the amount to Rs 2.4 lakh after Dinesh agreed to pay him Rs 8,000, said an ACB officer.
