A Special CBI court has rejected the bail applications of two accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case — Santram Sharma and Ajay Parmar.

No bail for two cops let off by CBI

AHMEDABAD: A Special CBI court has rejected the bail applications of two accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case — Santram Sharma and Ajay Parmar. The two were arrested by Gujarat CID (Crime) but their names did not figure in the CBI chargesheet filed later. The CBI had cleared them saying they were not part of the conspiracy and were only following orders of their superior officers. The two had demanded bail contending since the CBI has exonerated the two and since they have not been allowed to be discharged from the case,they should get bail. The court rejected the bail plea since the investigation is still on.

Rajasthan cops allowed to sit for exam

AHMEDABAD: Two suspended police sub-inspectors from Rajasthan who are lodged inside Sabarmati Central Jail in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case were granted permission by a CBI court in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to go to Jaipur with escorts to appear in a departmental examination for promotion to the rank of police inspector. The two,Himanshu Singh Rajawat and Shyam Singh Charan,had approached the CBI court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate A Y Dave for the same and the court granted them the permission to go to Jaipur between October 20 and 26.
