Surat: Asaram Bapu abandoned the second-day programme to celebrate Janmashtami in Surat and flew to Madhya Pradesh to attend the funeral ceremony of his senior disciple who died on Wednesday night at his ashram in Bhopal. He held satsang along with thousands of his followers at 6 am on Thursday. He later informed he had abandoned the rest of the programme as his disciple Krishnan (60) had passed away. He left Surat around 9.30 am and flew to Bhopal.

Asaram, wanted by the Rajasthan Police,was in Surat city since Tuesday night to celebrate Janmashtami with his followers at his Jehangirpura ashram in Surat. Mihir Desai,spokesperson of Jehangirpura Ashram, said,“Due to the death of Krishnanji,Bapu had to fly to Bhopal

Sources at the ashram said that Krishnanji was earlier a second-grade officer with the Madhya Pradesh government and had later taken a voluntary retirement and started working with Asaram. Later,he became in-charge of the Bhopal ashram.

PIL against Asaram in SC

New Delhi: A PIL was filed in the SC on Thursday,demanding a court-monitored CBI investigation into an alleged sexual assault case involving Asaram Bapu. The petition by Chennai-based lawyer D Irudayanathan referred to the statement by Asaram’s son Narayan Sai over the girl’s mental state and called for a stringent implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act. It said the Home Ministry should be directed for immediate scientific test for ascertaining the biological age of victims and fast tracking of the probe so that evidence was not obliterated.
