Wheat,other bold grains up on increased offtake

Wheat and few other bold grains showed some strength to trade up to Rs 40 per quintal higher.

Wheat and few other bold grains showed some strength to trade up to Rs 40 per quintal higher in the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by flour mills and stockists.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills to meet the coming festive season demand mainly attributed the rise in wheat prices.

Increased demand against tight supplies from producing belts helped maize and barley prices to trade higher,they said.

In the national capital,Wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1,580-1,585 per quintal,while atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,585-1,590 per 90 kg.

Maize and barley also moved up by Rs 40 and Rs 10 to Rs 1,300-1,310 and Rs 1,285- 1,300 per quintal respectively.

The following are today’s quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,000-2,200,Wheat dara (for mills) 1,580-1,585,Chakki atta (delivery) 1,585-1,590,Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210,Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210,Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg),Maida 930- 950 (50 kg) and Sooji 1020-1,060 (50kg).
