Lawyers protest turn violent in Lucknow

Lucknow, Feb 10 (ANI): Following the death of a lawyer in Lucknow, hundreds of lawyers in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh went on a rampage to protest against the alleged murder of an advocate of the Allahabad High Court. The violent mob destroyed dozen of vehicles and set two buses and a building on fire. A lawyer, Shravan Verma, was allegedly murdered in the Naka area of Lucknow. An FIR has been registered by the local police and three arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Nation on high alert ahead of Republic Day

New Delhi/Mumbai/ Srinagar, Jan 25 (ANI): Security has been beefed up in the entire nation ahead of Republic Day celebrations. Various check-posts have been set up in the national capital. The security forces have been kept on high alert in regard to the celebrations as they continued checking and frisking vehicles. Security arrangements have tightened at the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. High alert has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in view of the recent Pathankot terror attack. Police personnel have been deployed in strength in the city, particularly around Bakshi Stadium, the venue for the main Republic Day parade in the Valley, to foil any attempts by militants.

Delhi police conducts mock drill ahead of Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 22 (ANI): The Delhi Police conducted massive mock drills in the national capital ahead of the Republic Day celebration. A number of prominent Delhi areas, including Hauz Khas and Khan Market, were evacuated during the drill. Bomb disposal squads, quick response teams, emergency response vehicles, fire tenders, ambulances etc were present on the spot. The prime objective of the drill was to check the alertness of the security forces amid a high alert situation.
