Though water guzzling paddy is the only crop that has received the governments whole hearted support farmers sowing this Kharif crop get eight hours of uninterrupted free electricity to run their tubewells but the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has now decided to provide 500 solar submersible pumps on subsidised rates to farmers who will grow other crops.
