Five militants of banned organisation held in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 18 (ANI): The police on Wednesday night arrested five militants, belonging to banned Students Islamic Movement, in Odisha. Acting on an intelligence input, a police team carried out raids in Rourkela district and apprehended the ultras after a brief gun battle. The arrested ultras had escaped from a jail in Khandwa district of of Madhya Pradesh in 2013. Director General of Odisha police Kanwar Brajesh Singh said they were involved in blasts, killing of two policemen and bank robbery. Police will produce them before a court to seek remand for further interrogation.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 26 (ANI): As many as four terror suspects fled from a hotel in Odisha's Bhubaneswar city on Tuesday. Shiv Narayan Mahapatra, Hotel Manager of Arya Mahal, said that they fled after they were asked to provide their identity proofs. The incident was reported from Hotel Arya Mahal in Bhubaneswar and a search operation is on to nab the suspects.

Scores of dead turtles wash ashore in Odisha

Puri, Jan 21 (ANI): Over 150 Olive Ridley sea turtles and a few dolphins washed ashore dead in Odisha. Vultures gathered around turtles and dolphins carcasses on a beach near Pantha Niwas in Puri. Haunted by the sight, renowned sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik made sand sculptures of the turtles, along with a message reading ‘Give us Space to Live’. Pattnaik said the government should look into the matter and find out why turtles, dolphins and whales are dying so frequently in large numbers. The turtles died due to number of reasons, including entangling in the net of trawlers and garbage that pollutes the sea water.
