Kodikunnil Suresh biography

Kodikunnil Suresh, born on June 4, 1962, in Kodikunnil, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a prominent figure in Indian politics. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for seven terms.

He was born into a humble family and is the youngest son of Kunjan and Thankamma. He completed his pre-degree from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.

His political career began in 1989 when he was first elected to the Lok Sabha. He has since been re-elected six times, representing the Adoor and Mavelikara constituencies. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he won from the Mavelikara constituency by a small margin of 61138 votes to get his seventh consecutive term in the lower house of the Indian Parliament.

He has faced controversy at times in his career. There were claims that he was a Christian and that his caste certificate was a fraud, which raised doubt about his victory in the Lok Sabha election of 2009. The Kerala High Court initially ruled that his election was invalid. However, the Supreme Court subsequently overturned this decision.
