Geeta Koda biography

Geeta Koda, born on September 26, 1983, is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She represents the Singhbhum constituency in the Lok Sabha.

Koda started her political career by winning the Jagannathpur assembly seat in 2009. She won the seat again in 2020 after facing defeat by the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Before joining the BJP, she was associated with the Jai Bharat Samanta Party. On February 26, 2024, she left the Indian National Congress and joined the BJP on the same day. She is married to Madhu Koda, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

In February 2017, Koda was appointed a member of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Steering Committee (India Region) by Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

She was also conferred the Champions of Change Award in 2019 for her work in social welfare (aspirational districts). The award was presented by Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on January 20, 2020.
