West Bengal: Police constable shot dead

Midnapore, Jan 08 (ANI): A police constable was shot dead by unknown people in East Midnapore district in West Bengal last night. The incident happened around 10:30 pm during the patrolling by cops of Mahishadal Police Station, when they saw two men with a large bag standing beside the NH41. When the cops asked the men to identify themselves and show the bag, they opened fire on the cops and reportedly threw bombs on them as well. The injured constable was carried to the nearby Mahishadal hospital and then to the Tamluk Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Police force was rushed to the area where the incident took place and a hunt was launched for the two suspects.
