Dissension hits MNS, general secy Pravin Darekar resigns

Darekar is one of the few leaders in MNS with a following of his own.

After abject performance in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, dissensions have hit the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena with party general secretary Pravin Darekar resigning from his post. The move came after Bala Nandgaonkar, who led the party in the outgoing Assembly, blamed the party legislators for the party’s poll debacle.

“I am not a politician with a thick skin. I am a sensitive person who has worked for people in the constituency. If my own group leader feels that I have not worked then there is no point in continuing as the general secretary of the party,” Pravin Darekar said.

Darekar said he had sent his resignation to party chief Raj Thackeray. There are indications that Darekar may quit the party. Darekar has a sizeable following in the Western suburbs of Borivali-Magathane and he is one of the few leaders in MNS with a following of his own.
