Over 78 per cent voter turnout was recorded during the fourth phase of West Bengal Assembly elections for 49 seats on Monday, while more than 180 people were arrested in various poll-related incidents. The fourth phase covers 49 seats around Kolkata including 33 in North 24-Parganas and 16 in Howrah district.
Some of the most interesting fights in North 24-Parganas will be in Khardah where Finance Minister Amit Mitra will face his Left Front predecessor Asim Dasgupta, Kamarhati where Madan Mitra is fighting from jail against Manas Mukherjee of the CPM, and Dum Dum where Tourism Minister Bratya Basu fighting for a second term.

2:00 pm: Overall polling percentage of 52.22% recorded till 1 pm.
1.10 pm: Till 11 am, 42.37 per cent voters cast their votes in North 24 Parganas district while the corresponding figure in Howrah was 41.25 per cent.
Overall, 42.01 per cent voter turnout was recorded for 49 seats in the two districts.
12. 20 pm: In Dum Dum North constituency, CPI(M) candidate Tanmay Bhattacharya sustains injuries on his hand after stones were hurled at his car. Three persons have been arrested, Barrackpore Police Commissioner Niraj Singh said.
110 people have been arrested so far in the fourth phase election in Barrackpore police commissionerate area for bogus voting, booth jamming and being outsiders, Singh said.

10.10 am: Overall polling percentage recorded in first two hours, till 9 am in the fourth phase of West Bengal Assembly election was 22.63 per cent.
