Afghanistan: Indian woman kidnapped in Kabul, efforts still on to rescue her
All efforts are being made to ensure the woman's release in Afghanistan

An Indian woman has been abducted in Kabul in Afghanistan, government sources told the Press Trust of India. The woman was identified as Judith D’Souza, who hails from Kolkata and works with the Aga Khan Foundation. She was abducted Thursday night.
Sources added that all efforts are being made by the authorities in Afghanistan to ensure her release, the agency said.
The Indian embassy in Kabul is in touch with senior Afghan officials as well as with the family of the abducted woman.
The incident took place late Thursday night in the vicinity of Qala-e-Fatullah area of the city where numerous kidnapping incidents have taken place in the past, reports Khaama Press.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
The incident comes as the Embassy of India in Kabul had issued a security alert last month to Indian citizens residing in Afghanistan and travelling to the country on the persistent volatile situation in the country.
“All Indians residing in Afghanistan and Indian travellers to Afghanistan are advised that the security situation in Afghanistan remains highly volatile. Terrorist attacks have taken place in many parts of the country against a variety of targets including foreigners and are expected to continue. There is also the risk of kidnapping and hostage taking throughout the Afghanistan,” the statement said.
The US Embassy in Kabul had also issued two separate alerts, warning regarding a possible suicide and coordinated attack or kidnapping attempt of foreigners in capital Kabul.
