Gurgaon: Woman gangraped in moving car

Police said the woman did not know the accused and could not note down the registration number of the vehicle.

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men inside a moving car on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road Sunday night.

Police said the woman, a resident of Munirka in south Delhi, was returning home from a shopping mall on MG Road around midnight in an auto-rickshaw when the incident took place.

According to the FIR, three men in a car intercepted her auto-rickshaw near MG Road metro station and pulled her inside. The accused were accompanied by another woman, said the police.

“The men then took turns to rape the victim inside the car. Two hours later, the accused dumped her on the side of the road and drove away,” said a police officer.

On Monday morning, the woman went to Vasant Kunj police station and filed a complaint. The case was transferred to Gurgaon Police Monday evening. The complainant told police that she had seen the woman accomplice in the mall a few hours before the incident.

The complainant was produced before the magistrate and her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Police said the woman did not know the accused and could not note down the registration number of the vehicle.

“A case has been registered in Sector 29 police station. Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the culprits,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Deepak Saharan.
