Karan Mehra had quit the show few months back citing health issues. Vishal Singh has replaced him as Naitik, and will play the husband of Akshara aka Hina Khan.

It’s not always easy to walk in someone else’s shoes. And if that someone is one of the most loved faces on one of the most popular television shows, things tend to get more difficult. But looks like actor Vishal Singh is not finding it difficult to turn into Naitik! Vishal has replaced Karan Mehra in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as the male protagonist. And while the news about the big change left the show’s loyal fans disappointed initially, Vishal’s grand entry sequence has raised expectations from the actor. Vishal is looking equally suited to play the famous character of Naitik Singhania.

Vishal is returning to television after three years. But he has no inhibitions in playing father to grown-up children. “I am very excited to play the role of Naitik. Men like him are rarely found today and nothing better than playing an ideal man on screen who can definitely set an example. He is the perfect husband, father and son”, he said in a statement. Vishal made a heavy-duty and highly dramatic entry on the show. Naitik has for months remained absent from the scene, ever since Karan Mehra quit the show citing health reasons. And to cover up, the makers were running a track that Naitik was on a business trip to Kenya. Now, Naitik aka Vishal returned, while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at the Indian Embassy in Kenya.

Though Karan is said to have quit YRKKH on health grounds, inside reports said a different story. Apparently, the show’s female lead Hina Khan aka Akshara did not get along well with Karan. Reportedly, Hina and Karan’s wife Nisha Rawal also had a war of words on Twitter. But Karan’s exit had affected show’s ratings. The makers even tried to get back Karan but in vain. On his last day of shoot, Karan had posted an emotional video for his fans.

Considering Hina had refused to play a widow or remarry after Naitik’s “death”, the plot was reworked, and hence Vishal was roped in. Vishal is known for shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Astitva, and Parvarish. However, his character has already created enough ripple effect on the show. An anonymous person has shot Naitik as soon as he returned to the show. But we hear he will be saved and will be back to the Singhania household pretty soon.
