‘Vidarbha Assembly’ session

These measures were announced by “Chief Minister” Wamanrao Chatap,“Speaker” Saroj Kashikar and “Leader of the Opposition” Anil Bonde at a press conference.

The mock “Vidarbha state Assembly session” ended here Friday with the leaders promising to waive loans of farmers and giving them free power,giving power supply at concessional rate to industries for two years,various measures to improve health,irrigation and other facilities in the new state.

These measures were announced by “Chief Minister” Wamanrao Chatap,“Speaker” Saroj Kashikar and “Leader of the Opposition” Anil Bonde at a press conference.

The second and last day’s proceedings had ingredients of legislative business such as question hour and calling attention motions.

The “House” passed the resolution exhorting the Centre to pass a resolution to carve out a separate Vidarbha state.

In another development,Ashish Deshmukh,convenor of Vidarbha Joint Action Committee (VJAC) that organised the mock Assembly today,began his “indefinite hunger strike” for the statehood demand.

Son of former state Congress chief Ranjit Deshmukh,Ashish had led a march to Sevagram in October for the demand.

Local leader Sulekha Kumbhare of the RPI and prominent Vidarbha leader Jambuwantrao Dhote visited Deshmukh’s pandal to support the stir.
