Speaking on this sector, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said around 2,300 EWS houses have been constructed and 2,900 more will be built soon. “The government proposes to utilise the available stock of housing and vacant lands for initiating a slum redevelopment programme to provide housing to slum dwellers. Talks will be initiated with the Centre on this project,” Sisodia said.
To address the problem of unauthorised colonies, the government said it will ensure that people are able to register their properties and transact in their assets legally. The government also claimed that it has started six pilot projects in unauthorised colonies. It will send the boundary maps of these colonies to the municipal corporations in the next few days. Apart from this, it will also bring about guidelines for registration rates and provide basic infrastructure in these.
In a decision made by the cabinet, and was reiterated time and again, the minister announced that the government will ensure freehold rights to 45 resettlement colonies.
