The first day of the PU Zonal Youth and Heritage Fest at DAV College,Sector 10,Chandigarh witnessed a grand response from thousands of students and visitors.
The fest was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University,Professor Arun Grover. He lit the candle and addressed the audience,followed by the release of the colleges publication,Diviner – A bi-annual Research Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Udit Kumar Sinha,associate editor of Amar Ujala,and Ayushmann Khurrana,an actor and an alumnus of DAV College were the guests of honour. Ayushmann,recollecting his days as a student of the college,encouraged aspiring students to focus on a combination of talent and intelligence to achieve success in life. He interacted with the students and answered their varied questions about his personal and professional life and the way he maintains a balance between both. The events organized on Wednesday at all the four venues attracted much participation.
Wednesdays events included group folk dances,Giddha,group singing,classical music,light vocal,ghazal,folk song,spot photography,poster making,cartooning,collage making,rangoli,still life drawing and clay modeling. Students mostly from the Government College of Arts,Sector 10,SGGS College,Sector 26,PGGC Sectors 11 and 46 and DAV College,Sector 10 emerged victorious in these events.
Thursdays attractions include mime,mimicry,histrionics and other art and craft events like embroidery,crochet work,knitting mehndi designing and application competitions.
The event is being managed and organized primarily by members of Navsankalp. It is a charity association of DAV College,run by a group of students for the past seven years. The group consisting of about 150 members collects donations for the treatment of critically ill children below the age of 14 years.
