According to the police, the control room received a call in the afternoon from a passerby who said that a youth was lying unconscious in his Ford Figo car in Sector 40. After receiving the call, a PCR vehicle took the youth, identified as Harshdeep Singh, to GMSH where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police said that the victim was unemployed and lived with his family in Sector 39. A daily diary report was lodged at the Sector 39 police station. The police said that post-mortem would be conducted on Saturday.
“We are not sure whether it was a normal death or it was caused due to drug overdose, though absence of the injury marks indicates that it could not be a murder. At this point we are not ruling out anything,” said a police officer.
DSP (South) Deepak Yadav said they suspected it to be a case of drug overdose. However, the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after the autopsy report.
The family of the deceased could not be contacted.
