India’s medal hopes in shooting further dropped after Heena Sidhu crashed out of Women’s 10m pistol event on Sunday with a score of 380 to finish 14th.
Only the top eight qualify for the Final. Sidhu who many believed was at least likely to make the Final, disappointed in her showing with yet another shooter headed out without a medal.
On Saturday, her compatriots Ayonika Paul and Apurvi Chandela had also failed to make the Final in their 10m air rifle event. Later Jitu Rai had made the final in the men’s event but could only muster an eighth position.
Heena shot 94, 95, 96 and 95 in the four series to leave herself little gap to make the Final.
Vitalina Batsarashkina and Ekaterinaof Korshunova of Russia alongside Anna Korakaki of Greece were the top three with scores of 390, 387 and 387 respectively.
