Sukhbir Siwach prefers to focus on investigative stories and has won the prestigious United Nations Population Fund-Laadli Media Award thrice for investigative stories. Sukhbir Siwach has a diverse portfolio but especially likes writing on the issues of farmers and sensitive social issues including the problem of skewed sex ratio apart from covering elections, political and administrative developments of Haryana.
His extensive and in-depth coverage of farmer agitation against three farm laws during 2020-21 drew widespread attention. The crisis of depleting water table and emerging problem of drugs in Haryana are other issues widely reported by Siwach.
Siwach holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Guru Jambheshwar University (Hisar) and in English from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (formerly Agra University).
Before moving to The Indian Express in January 2017, Siwach worked for The Times of India for 12 years. Earlier, he also worked for leading Hindi dailies for nearly six years to have a first experience of the reporting at grassroots.
