Officials said that he has decamped with AK 47 rifle and three magazines. A manhunt has been launched to track the soldier. Army has also issued alert to it's formations in Valley to remain alert after the incident. Officials suspect the soldier could have joined militant ranks.

The Army said that there is a chance that the bodies of two more militants could be under the debris. “We had information that five militants were hiding in the village... three bodies have been retrieved and the search operation is on,” an officer said.

Militants opened fire on a CRPF vehicle at around 6 pm, injuring three troopers, who were shifted to the Army hospital near Srinagar, Kashmir. They took shelter in a neighbourhood near the Delhi Public School after the attack. One officer was killed and two others were injured.
