Seven killed in cargo ship explosion in China

The vessel,"Nandayou 22," exploded early Saturday at a dock Panyu,Guangzhou.

At least seven people were killed and six others went missing following a cargo ship explosion in China’s southwestern Guangdong province.

The vessel,”Nandayou 22,” exploded early Saturday at a dock in the township of Shilou in Panyu District of Guangzhou.

The toll rose to seven after rescuers retrieved two more bodies from a river,the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Six people remained missing,an official spokesperson said,adding the accident also left one person injured.

The legal representative and the vice president of the Gang’an Ship Cleaning Company,owner of the dock,have been detained,he said.
