An Italian woman living in Bengaluru has sparked a lively conversation online after posting an Instagram reel about the sense of safety she feels in India. Serena, who has called Bengaluru her home for more than a decade, shared the light-hearted clip after realising she had absent-mindedly left her helmet on her parked scooter while she wandered through a store.

The video opens with her inside the shop, a worried caption flashing on the screen: “Dammit! I left my helmet out there?” She then rushes outside, expecting the worst.

But the next shot shows her walking up to her scooter and discovering that the helmet is still sitting exactly where she left it, prompting her to add a line that many viewers instantly related to: “Gosh! In Italy wouldn’t last 2 minutes.”

The reel ends with Serena appreciating how secure she feels in her adopted city, writing in the caption that one of the “perks of living in India” is that her belongings “feel safe” and she doesn’t have to constantly worry about them.

Take a look at the video:

As the video spread, social media users chimed in with jokes, warnings and personal anecdotes. A user quipped, “Only helmet is safe cause no one wears it.” Another user wrote, “In London, your scooter will be at the other end of the city by now.”

A third person shared, “When I visited the Milan Metro in Italy, my wallet was stolen. No police officer paid any attention to my complaint, and ironically, a beggar at the metro station seemed to have more money than I did at that moment.”

A fourth individual advised, “Ya better than italy but doesnt mean there are no thieves. Always be safe. Bad elements are everywhere in the world.”
