Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has suggested that the Kashmir dispute may never be resolved.
Gilanis pessimism over the issue was reflected while he was trying to pacify a row that erupted after the Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended a presidential order on the appointment of two top judges.
Why do you think it is end of the system or the end of democracy and the arrival of the third force? A single decision on the appointment of a judge cannot destabilise the system,I dont think so It is not the Kashmir dispute … we will solve it. It will be fine, the Daily Times quoted Gilani,as saying.
He denied that the appointments had anything to do with the courts ruling on the National Reconciliation Ordinance, and seemed to take a moderate stance on working through the latest disagreement.
Pointing out that decisions could go wrong at times,he dismissed apprehensions that the government was on a collision course with the judiciary.
I want to give a message to the nation that the countrys institutions are strong, and we will work within our domains. Let the court interpret. The system is intact and stable. There is no threat to democracy. There is no threat to the country nor to any institution, Gilani said.
