North East Delhi Election Results 2024: In a decisive victory, Manoj Tiwari, the sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) from North East Delhi, has successfully retained his seat by defeating Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Tiwari secured a significant 8,24,451 votes, outpacing Kumar's 6,85,673 votes by a substantial margin of over 1,38,778 votes. This outcome marks Tiwari's second consecutive term as the MP from the North East Delhi constituency. North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the seven constituencies of Delhi and was touted to witness a strong contest. The competition between the two was one of the most anticipated ones in Delhi, both originally hailing from Bihar, with Delhi being home to many migrants from the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Manoj Tiwari defeated Congress’s Sheila Dikshit and AAP’s Dilip Pandey by a margin of over 3 lakh votes and became the two-time sitting MP from this seat. The 2019 elections saw a voter turnout of 14,62,767, which was 63.86 per cent of the total voters in the area. Manoj Tiwari is already a two-time MP from the same North East Delhi constituency on BJP’s ticket, while on the other hand, this was Kanhaiya Kumar’s first political campaign under Congress’ banner. Kanhiya, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, contested from Bihar’s Begusarai seat on the Communist Party of India’s (CPI) ticket but lost to BJP’s Giriraj Singh. In the lead up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Tiwari kept attacking Kanhaiya Kumar by calling him anti-national and not fit to run elections. The Congress candidate, on the other hand, accused Manoj of sending his goons to attack him, as Kanhaiya was physically assaulted by two people during one of his campaign visits in his electoral constituency.
