Hajipur Lok Sabha Constituency: LJP’s Chirag Paswan vs RJD’s Shiv Chandra Ram

Hajipur Lok Sabha Constituency: Haijur is one of Bihar’s 40 Lok Sabha seats. It is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and is part of the Vaishali district. It comprises six Vidhan Sabha segments: Hajipur, Lalganj, Mahua, Raja Pakar, Raghopur, and Mahnar.

The Hajipur Lok Sabha seat was established in 1957 and has been held by a number of well-known politicians. Ram Sundar Das, a former chief minister of Bihar, was the first to run for this seat in 1957 as a socialist. He was elected in both 1991 and 2009.

The Hajipur Constituency’s 2024 Lok Sabha Election is set for May 20. The constituency is under the jurisdiction of LJP (RV) for NDA and RJD for the I.N.D.I.A. alliance. Chirag Paswan will be stepping into the battleground for LJP (RV), while Shiv Chandra Ram will be seen taking the field for RJD.

The party chief of Lok Janshakti Party- Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) Chirag Paaswan, will be seen contesting the Lok Sabha election from the Hajipur seat in 2024 instead of his own stronghold seat of Jamui in order to take his father Ram Vilas Pasawan’s legacy even further. The two-time MP will be looking to win the seat for the record 10th time for the Paswan family, as previously Ram Vilas Paswan has won eight times, and his brother Pashupati Kumar Paras one time in 2019.

On behalf of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal has decided to field one of their veteran leaders, the two-time MLA Shiv Chandra Ram, from the Hajipur Lok Sabha seats. Shiv Chandra Ram is said to be a close ally of Lalu Yadav and is also known as the face of the Dalit community for RJD. Given the fact that the Haijipur seat is reserved for the SC candidate, Shiv Chandra Ram can be a good bet by the opposition alliance.
