Taylor Swift hugs Brittany Mahomes at US Open, despite Trump controversy

Speculation of a rift between Swift and Mahomes began when Brittany liked an Instagram post from Trump on August 13, which included controversial policies such as limiting men’s participation in women’s sports and cutting federal funding for Critical Race Theory in schools.

The social media reaction was swift, with many criticizing her choice.

Brittany responded to the backlash on Instagram, writing: “You can disagree with someone and still love them,” and defended herself against the criticism, saying that being an adult hater reflects unresolved issues.

Trump later thanked Mahomes for her support on Truth Social, calling her “beautiful” and praising her defense of him. He also mentioned, “What a great couple – see you both at the Super Bowl!”

Rumors about a falling out between Swift and Mahomes intensified when they sat in separate suites at a Chiefs game. However, their friendly interaction at the US Open seems to show that their relationship is still strong.

The two were in New York to watch Taylor Fritz compete against top-seeded Jannik Sinner in the US Open final. Fritz, aiming for his first Grand Slam title, had defeated Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals.

If Fritz wins, he would be the first American man to win the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2003.

Swift and Kelce, fresh off the Chiefs’ season-opening win, were among the many celebrities at the event. The Chiefs’ next game isn’t until the following Sunday, giving the couple time to enjoy the tennis.

While Swift has criticized Trump in the past, she hasn’t publicly supported a candidate for the 2024 election.
