Amid the global outrage over the actions being carried out by Israel in Gaza and specifically, Rafah, the issue is now trending over social media with civilians in Rafah getting huge sympathy and response.

The escalation of airstrikes and shelling by Israeli forces into the southern Gaza city of Rafah, even after the International Court of Justice pronouncing an immediate cease to aggression by Israel, indicates the intention of the PM Benjamin Netanyahu-led administration of an all-out war, where even countries with veto power like US are aligned with Israel’s decision.

1) Israel minister proposes to dissolve parliament

Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz has proposed to hold a parliamentary vote to dissolve the parliament. Earlier, Gantz had issued an ultimatum to PM Benjamin Netanyahu led government that he would quit the coalition if there was no plan by June 8 regarding the Gaza war.

2) Israel seizes control of Egypt-Gaza border

Israel military has gained control of a buffer zone Philadelphi Corridor along the border of Egypt and Gaza Strip which, in effect, means that Israel’s IDF has authority over Palestine’s land border in that region.

3) No end to war

Israel’s National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi stated that the war with Hamas isn’t getting over soon and it might take around another seven months through the end of this year as Israel has expanded its Rafah offensive in Gaza’s southern region.

4) All eyes on Rafah

India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jasiwal said India was heartbroken over the reports of civilian deaths in Rafah after Israeli airstrikes and added Delhi has noted that Tel Aviv has taken the responsibility and launched an investigation into the civilian deaths.
