More than three dozen dead after bus accident in southern Mexico

More than three dozen people have lost their lives in a tragic bus accident in southern Mexico, local media reported on Saturday.

As per reports, the bus involved was travelling between Cancun and Tabasco, when the accident took place.

“We are closely coordinating with federal and state authorities to provide any necessary assistance,” said Ovidio Peralta, the mayor of Comalcalco, Tabasco.

Bus operator Tours Acosta said around 44 passengers were onboard the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The company expressed deep sorrow over the incident in a Facebook post, stating that the bus was traveling within speed limits and that they are fully cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the crash.

Tabasco’s secretary of government, Ramiro Lopez, announced that officials would provide further details on the number of victims and their identities later on Saturday.
