A spokesperson for Jerry Brown also confirmed to US media that the former governor did not discuss Harris during the 2018 helicopter flight.

Former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown has rejected former President Donald Trump’s claim that they once shared a frightening helicopter ride together, dismissing the account as pure ‘fiction’, the BBC reports.

During a recent appearance, Trump recounted that he and Brown experienced a tense moment when their helicopter made an emergency landing. “We thought maybe this was the end,” Trump said, adding that Brown seemed “a little concerned” during the incident.

However, Brown, now 90, told US media that he never shared a helicopter with Trump. “I don’t think I’d want to ride on the same helicopter with him,” Brown remarked, as reported by the BBC.

Trump, 78, may have confused Willie Brown with Jerry Brown, the former California governor, with whom Trump shared a helicopter ride in 2018 while visiting the aftermath of the Paradise wildfires. Gavin Newsom, the current California governor, was also on board.

Both Jerry Brown and Newsom denied any emergency landing occurred. “I call complete BS,” Newsom told The New York Times.

Former President Donald Trump recently brought up a past relationship between Vice President Kamala Harris and former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, claiming Brown played a significant role in Harris’ career advancement. Trump’s comments implied a close connection between Brown and Harris, who dated in the mid-1990s while she was a California prosecutor.

Willie Brown rejected Trump’s insinuation, calling it ‘unbelievable’ and ‘far-fetched.’ Brown instead praised Kamala Harris as a ‘good friend’ and a highly capable individual, describing her as ‘smart as all hell’ and noting her impressive electoral successes”, according to a BBC report.
