The injured, including one woman, were shifted to a nearby hospital. The blast at the bustling cafe, located in east Bengaluru, occurred around 1:30 pm during the busy lunch hour when crowds from nearby offices generally line up.
According to the website of The Rameshwaram Cafe, it is a premium South Indian chain of QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) module, and is a trademark-registered brand under the mother company M/s. Altran Ventures Pvt. Ltd. Divya Raghavendra Rao is the Founder & Managing Director of the cafe, while Raghavendra Rao is the founder and promoter of IDC Kitchen heads Operations at The Rameshwaram Cafe.
Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was the inspiration behind the cafe, and hence named Rameshwaram after his birthplace, according to the website.

The Rameshwaram Cafe was launched as a premium pure vegetarian South Indian chain of quick service restaurant (QSR), which was ‘a dream of the founders’, according to the website. The first two outlets were launched in Bengaluru in 2021.
The website further says that “it is one-of-a-kind South Indian cafe” and is open from 6.30 am to 1 am. The different branches of the cafe are located in Indiranagar, JP Nagar, Brookfield, Rajajinagar and one at Madhapur in Hyderabad.
