In a relief from sweltering heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Thursday said there will be no heatwave conditions for the next five days, with rainfall expected over most parts of India. In northwest India, which was reeling under high temperatures till early this week, the maximum temperature will see a drop of two to four degree Celsius over the next two days. Maximum temperatures in central and west India, too, are expected to fall by two to four degree Celsius over the next four days.

The IMD has predicted thunderstorms in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan today (May 25).

Hailstorm is likely over isolated places in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, west Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan and Jharkhand, the weather department said.

Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram are likely to see heavy rainfall as well.

Over the following two days, Assam and Meghalaya will also experience thunderstorms and lightning in addition to a lot of rain.

Light rainfall is also expected over parts of Kerala. Rajasthan, on the other hand, will have dust storms on May 25 and 26.
