The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in central, eastern, sourthern and north eastern states for today.
Light rain with thunderstorms is expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra over the next four days, and in Gujarat on Tuesday. Isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh may witness hailstorms as well.
The IMD has attributed the rainfall to cyclonic circulations in the south interior Karnataka with a trough running to northwest Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation lies over Assam. Under the cyclonic circulations the regions are prone to isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds. Multiple regions may experience heavy rainfall in the next week due the cyclonic circulations.
The next week will very likely see scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar islands. The same will be experienced over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe and Karnataka.
In addition, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana and Rayalseema will very likely experience scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds between the speed of 30-40 kmph.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand along with Rajasthan and the Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad regions to experience Western Disturbance, which will lead to isolated rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds between the speed of 40-50kmph.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to witness light rain today.
