Amey Tiwari, a visually-impaired MBA student from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Tiruchirappalli, has sparked a conversation about workplace inclusivity after sharing his struggles with securing a placement. Despite his qualifications and expertise, he said opportunities remain scarce for candidates like him.

In a LinkedIn post that has now gone viral, Amey expressed his frustration, stating that he had done “everything right,” yet doors continued to remain closed.

“My MBA at the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is ending. This should be a moment of achievement. Instead, it feels like a cruel joke. Not because of my skills. Not because of my knowledge. Not because of my drive. It’s because I am blind,” Tiwari wrote.

Tiwari criticised companies for failing to back up their talk of diversity and inclusion with real action. “Let’s be real—this world does not see professionals like me as equals. It celebrates us as ‘inspirations’ when convenient but hesitates when it’s time to hire. Diversity? Inclusion? Accessibility? Nice words. But when action is needed, the silence is deafening,” he wrote in the post.

He also wrote, “I do not need sympathy. I do not need empty promises. I need someone—anyone—to prove that inclusion is more than just corporate lip service.”

The post went viral and social media users flooded the comments section to express their support.

A user wrote, “I support every word of yours!! And it’s not your fault it’s the system we are suffering into. We do MBA hoping to get a job at a reputable company but many of us just stay stuck in the vicious cycle of placements which ultimately makes us doubt our own self. It’s a high time to change this rigid structure and make a conscious choice. Because at the end it’s our future so the onus is on us!”

Another user wrote, “Hi Amey Tiwari, I don’t think you are blind. The people who judge your skill set and you before giving you a proper opportunity to prove yourself—those people are blind. Stay strong, brother!”

A third person commented, “3 years past my MBA, and I can for sure tell you placements from MBA is not the end of road. Please stay strong, hope you land up the right role. Meanwhile, please share me your resume. Let me check for openings at my organisation.”

Meanwhile, many LinkedIn users commented on the post for the post to reach a wider audience, and some shared their email IDs asking Tiwari to get in touch with them for jobs.
