Passenger shares harrowing SpiceJet flight experience, demands action

He shared how SpiceJet has cancelled both the flights and had provided him with flights via Mumbai with 8 hours of layover and 4 hours of layover on the return journey.

SpiceJetIn his post, he tagged official accounts of PIB Civil Aviation and Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

Flight delays, unhygienic food, and mishandling of luggage are all too familiar woes for air travellers. However, a recent incident shared by a frustrated passenger sheds light on the severity of these issues, sparking outrage on social media platforms, particularly on X.

The passenger, identified as @aumbuj, took to social media platform X on March 3 to express his harrowing experience with SpiceJet airlines. Having booked a ticket from Bengaluru to Darbhanga and back to Bengaluru to transport his elderly parents for medical assistance, he met with a series of flight cancellations and revised timings that left him and his family stranded and distressed.

He began his post with, “@flyspicejet has made flying a joke. The rescheduling and cancellation is rampant and at the end of the day the passenger is getting screwed by these operators and the govt does nothing. Honest taxpayers of this country are the worst class citizens. @Pib_MoCA @JM_Scindia.”

In the next few threads, he shared how SpiceJet has cancelled both the flights and had provided him with flights via Mumbai with eight hours of layover and four hours of layover on the return journey. Despite reluctantly accepting the alternative flights, the ordeal continued as the situation worsened at Mumbai airport.

“Now after waiting for 8 hrs at Mumbai airport, they rescheduled the flights with an hour’s delay. No communication, no announcement, no alerts on messages, nothing. Just rescheduled,” he lamented.

The lack of communication and support from SpiceJet only added to the user’s frustration. “These airliners are making money on the perils of their passengers. There is zero support from SpiceJet on rescheduled passengers. They want the money from the passengers but don’t want to deliver on their commitments, neither providing any support for the passengers suffering from the bad operations,” he said.
