As marketing competition continues to grow, businesses often develop innovative advertising ideas to attract customers and maintain a competitive edge. In such an attempt, ‘human ads’ took over Bengaluru streets, triggering a debate on social media.

The viral photo shows three men walking with illuminating electronic human billboards highlighting offers for a 10-minute food delivery application. Sharing the picture, an X user wrote, “VC : how much funding do you need ? Startup : 5 million $ VC : what’s your customer acquisition plan. Then : Human ads. VC : Take my money.”

The post garnered over 13,50,000 views, prompting various views about human billboards. “This ad is in too many places now, and it doesn’t feel good,” a user wrote. “This one was good. And here we are banging our heads on how to go for profitability. Difficult to fight with market forces,” another user commented.

“maybe it’s just me, but human ads make me so sad, they’re walking around with that heavy thing on their backs for god knows how long,” a third user reacted.

In September, another billboard advertisement took over Bengaluru. What appeared to be a computer-generated imagery (CGI) video, shows a 3D billboard advertisement featuring a man pouring a steaming beverage, confusing social media users. The viral video showed a man’s body popping out of the billboard and serving a glass of filter coffee.
