Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has become the top trending topic on Google Search in a span of 13 hours following the news of his passing on Thursday night. Singh, a two-time Prime Minister and the architect behind India’s pivotal 1991 economic reforms, died on Thursday at 9:51 PM.

According to Google Trends, the surge in searches reached over two million, with a 1000% increase in search volume.

In response to the news, the Indian government has declared a seven-day national mourning period and has canceled all official events scheduled for Friday. The Union Cabinet is expected to convene at 11 AM on Friday to pay their respects to the late leader, who will be given a state funeral with full honors.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying heartfelt tributes to Dr. Singh, recognizing his immense contributions to the country. Politicians from across the political spectrum have expressed their sorrow, describing his death as a great loss to the nation and praising his leadership and legacy.

Dr. Singh, who passed away at the age of 92, had been admitted to AIIMS Delhi in critical condition shortly before his death. His body was transported from the hospital in a special ambulance late after midnight. The nation now prepares to honor his life and service through official ceremonies.
