The 2023 edition of the famed T-Rex race took place on Sunday, August 20, at its usual venue- Emerald Downs, a thoroughbred racetrack in Washington, USA. The race, which involves runners wearing inflatable dinosaur costumes instead of sports apparel, has gained much popularity since its inception in 2017.

As per Emerald Downs’s website, this year, over 200 participants took part in the T-Rex World Championship. After a series of qualifying races, nine participants participated in the final 100-yard race.

Now the videos and pictures of the T-Rex are raking in likes on social media.

Commenting on the video of the final race of the T-Rex World Championship, an X user wrote, “Maybe not meant this way but some good alternative to animal races.” Another person wrote, “Very important question: why is this not an official Olympic sport?”

The final race ended with three participants seemingly crossing the finish line together. After watching the slow-motion replay, the organisers concluded that Ocean Kim from Hawaii, who picked the name Boto Rex for the race, came first. The second spot was claimed by Colton Winegar from Idaho, who took the name Deno the Dino. The third spot was taken by Seth Hirschi of Washington, aka Rex Ray Machine.

It is interesting to note that both Kim and Winegar, who got the first and the second position, respectively, are employees of the Tri-Guard Pest Control. The Tri-Guard Pest Control started the T-Rex race as a team-building event in 2017. This year, 40 employees of the company participated in the race.
