Delhi Today News Live Updates:  Delhi court on Wednesday sent Anmol Bishnoi, an accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, to 11 days of NIA custody. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) produced Anmol, the brother and close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, amid tight security in Patiala House Court around 5 pm after the federal agency arrested him upon his deportation from the US. Bishnoi landed at Delhi’s IGI Airport earlier in the day.

AQI at alarming levels: Delhi’s air quality touched the ‘severe’ category, with the city’s AQI climbing to 400 on Thursday, data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed. The forecast says Delhi’s air quality is likely to deteriorate further in the coming days, remaining in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ range for the next six days, according to the Ministry of Earth Sciences’ Air Quality Early Warning System. Earlier, the Supreme Court on Wednesday had asked the air pollution watchdog for Delhi-NCR to consider issuing directions to schools to move sports activities scheduled in November and December to “safer months”.

The Delhi government plans to equip all its schools with AI-enabled learning and modern classrooms over the next five years as part of a broader effort to upgrade public education infrastructure, the city's Education Minister Ashish Sood said on Thursday.

Attending a school bag distribution at an MCD School in Lajpat Nagar, he highlighted the government's focus on technology-driven learning, and asserted that it was working "at multiple levels" to strengthen public education.

Delhi's schools will undergo wide-ranging improvements, including AI-based teaching tools, upgraded furniture and redesigned classrooms in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sood said, adding both MCD and Delhi government schools would be modernised using CSR funds.

Multiple schools in the national capital received emails warning of bomb blasts on Thursday morning, which were later declared a 'hoax', an official said.

The schools include the British School and Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, the Modern School in Barakhamba, Doon Public School in Paschim Vihar, and Mother's International School (MIS) in Sri Aurobindo Marg, a senior police officer said.

The email sent to multiple schools read, "I am writing to you with an extremely serious and urgent warning. Your building is booby-trapped with several very powerful bombs that can detonate at any moment. These bombs have enormous destructive power and are likely to explode very soon, taking the lives of hundreds of innocent children and many teachers."

The Delhi Police has busted a transnational drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of five Nigerian nationals and recovery of synthetic drugs worth about Rs 3 crore, an official said on Thursday.

The police on October 31 received information regarding a narcotics supply module operating in Delhi, the officer said.

Acting on the information, the police arrested Ngoji Victor alias Jeff, near Nawada Metro Station and recovered 100 grams of MDMA and 40 ecstasy pills from his possession, the officer said.

The Railway Board has asked four zones to replace or convert non-compliant diesel generator (DG) sets in line with the directions of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) for controlling air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

In a letter dated November 18, the Board told the Northern, North Central, North Western and West Central zones to "replace the non-compliant DG sets with compliant DG sets".

It added that if replacements are not possible, the zones can either convert the DG sets to dual fuel mode or install with a Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD).

The Delhi government has imposed Rs 2.36 crore in fines, issued over 200 show-cause notices, and ordered closure of 48 construction sites for violating dust-control norms over the past month.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the punitive action, backed by real-time surveillance and continuous field inspections, reflects the government's resolve to confront pollution "with measurable, science-led enforcement rather than hollow announcements", according to a statement.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has intensified its anti-dust drive since October 15, inspecting 1,262 construction sites larger than 500 sqm, the statement said.

Seeking remand of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman and founder of the university, whom it had arrested on Tuesday evening on money laundering charges, the Central Probe agency said in its remand papers: “The University and its controlling trust, under the direction of arrestee/ accused, have generated proceeds of crime of at least about Rs 415.10 crore, by dishonestly inducing students and parents to part with money on the basis of false accreditation and recognition claims.” The university has come under the scanner after three doctors working there were identified as suspects in the November 10 Red Fort blast.
