Kamlesh Kamtekar, a graphic designer from Mumbai with 14 years of experience, recently shared a heartfelt post about being laid off and his challenges in finding a new job, despite his significant experience. In a lengthy LinkedIn post, Kamtekar explained that after struggling to secure a new position, he decided to become an autorickshaw driver.

In the now-viral post, Kamtekar shared that he lost his previous job due to cost cutting by his company and could not find a new job even after five months of relentlessly sending out resumes and using references. He said that as an assistant creative Manager with 14 years of experience in graphic design, he had been trying to find a new job. Even after five months, he still had not found a new opportunity, he said.

“I have reached out to many friends for referrals, but I have not been successful yet. I have applied to numerous positions on LinkedIn as well, but my applications have consistently been rejected,” he said.

He was rejected by several organisations as they couldn’t meet his salary. “After this feedback, I thought, why not start my own business and earn money at the same low salary instead of working somewhere else? At least I will have my own income,” Kamtekar wrote.

“So I decided to sacrifice my all designing skills and drive an auto rickshaw. Give me your blessing for my new business,” he added.

Kamtekar’s post quickly gained traction on the platform, prompting professionals to react to it. “this is not even an inspiration or inspiring, this is misfortune or we say in our language “Gathikedu” at its peak,” a user wrote. “That’s most courageous thing to do Kamlesh Kamtekar and fortune favours the brave,” another user commented.

“I wished if you kept trying you would have got the job you wanted. But that’s another part. Right now you are still determined to keep grinding and making sure the food and shelter is provided. All the best,” a third user reacted.
