When people use large public transport vehicles, they not only save fuel but also help the environment. But many metro rail commuters depend on autorickshaws for-last mile connectivity.
In a wonderful initiative, a boy who travels daily on Mumbai Metro uses his bicycle to reach his tuition classes. R A Rajeev, a retired IAS officer, tweeted the boy’s photo. The boy is seen sitting on a seat with his bike helmet on while the cycle is parked next to him, at the designated spot.
“This young boy is a daily traveler in #MumbaiMetro, goes to attend tuition. It was a pleasant site to witness him parking his bicycle easily. He looked very comfortable with the metro services. All the best to him,” Rajeev wrote.

“Superb best way to travel is metro & he is smartly covering last mile connectivity with his cycle even better is that at young age kids are reckless & dont wear helmet but this boy is on right track. Metro authorities should acknowledge on social media to encourage others,” a residents’ association tweeted.

“Atleast in metro it’s free to take cycle but in local train it would cost you around 200rs. Cycle should be encouraged in local train by adding one more coach just for cyclists. Would surely encourage lot of people I hope,” another Twitter user posted. “Very confident, aware of the efficiency and convenience. We just hope that he cycles safely to his destination and back without being troubled and intimidated by Autos, Cars, Heavy Vehicles. Cyclists need to be respected. Cheers lad,” commented another netizen.
