BharatMatrimony has come under fire after a married woman’s picture showed up in a fake profile on its elite subscription service. Swati Mukund, the woman in question, clarified that she didn’t meet her husband on any matrimonial site and raised concerns about what she’s calling the ‘BharatMatrimony Scam’. Mukund urged people to be cautious when using the platform. In the video, she begins by saying, “This is a post on India’s number one and supposedly most trusted matrimonial app, BharatMatrimony," followed by a screenshot of the app showing her photo with the text “BharatMatrimony Scam." Mukund goes on to explain, “As you can see, that’s my picture, and for the record, this is my husband (gesturing to him beside her). No, I didn’t meet him through any of these apps." Expressing her frustration, she adds, “It’s shocking because this is BharatMatrimony’s elite subscription service, where they charge people a lot of money and claim to screen profiles carefully. But how are they doing that?" She ends the video with a word of caution: “Clearly, it’s not working. This is a reminder to all users to be careful on these platforms, because what you see isn’t always what you get." Mukund shared the video with the caption, “More acrimony than matrimony, I guess!" She explained, “My husband is in the first part of the video to make sure that they don’t use our photo and then later claim that we found each other on their app." She also tagged BharatMatrimony on Instagram.
